  • Wednesday, 05 February 2020 15:24

E15 sales in Minnesota in 2019 closed at 78.52 million gallons, a new all-time high.

Ethanol comprised 12.4 percent of all transportation fuel consumed in Minnesota in 2018, according to data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA). However, overall ethanol consumption in the country declined that year as the EPA's RFS waivers to the oil industry began to take a toll.

The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) is seeking input from stakeholders to create a Higher Blends Infrastructure Incentive Program (HBIIP) to expand the availability of ethanol and biodiesel blends.

It's official. 2019 was a record year for E15 sales in Minnesota.

The EPA's final RVO for 2020, which does not fully account for gallons that will be lost to the issuance of small refinery exemptions, has been met with stinging criticism from the ethanol industry and its advocates. Minnesota's senators, Amy Klobuchar and Tina Smith, along with Rep. Collin Peterson, issued the following statements.

2019 is set to be another record year for E15 sales in Minnesota with 64.38 million gallons sold as of Oct 31, according to data from the Minnesota Department of Commerce.

Minnesota senators, Amy Klobuchar and Tina Smith, have submitted statements to the Senate’s congressional record opposing a provision in the 2020 Interior appropriations bill that allows the EPA to continue issuing small refinery waivers regardless of the Department of Energy’s (DOE) recommendations.

The volume of E15 sold in Minnesota this year as of Sept 30 was 57.09 million gallons, nearly as much as the volume sold for the whole of 2018 (59.4 million gallons).
