Syngenta has received approval to export its Agrisure Viptera corn trait to China. The approval from China covers corn grain and processing byproducts, such as dried distillers grains (DDGs), for feed use.

Syngenta said in a statement Dec 22 that the Agrisure Viptera trait is a key component of the company's insect control solutions and offers growers protection against the broadest spectrum of above-ground corn pests and enables significant crop yield gains.

It said Agrisure Viptera has been approved for cultivation in the USA since 2010 and has also been approved for cultivation in Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Paraguay and Uruguay.

Syngenta said it had originally submited the import approval dossier to China's authorities in March 2010. Apart from China, the Agrisure Viptera trait has been approved for import into Australia / New Zealand, Belarus, the European Union, Indonesia, Japan, Kazakhstan, Korea, Mexico, Philippines, Russia, South Africa, Taiwan and Vietnam.
